Croatia’s coast line and topography make a perfect combination for active holiday. Walkers on hiking holidays can enjoy many picturesque walks, most of which are in one of the seven National Parks. Those wishing to take advantage of the warm Mediterranean climate and also the calm and beautiful clear sea may find diving very popular. There are of course many Greek and Roman artefacts in the Adriatic Sea to be discovered on dives. The Dalmatian Coast line and many islands make Croatia and ideal place for Sailing holidays. The two main bases are in Split and Pula. There are innumerable bays and coves and unspoilt beaches with crystal clear turquoise waters, it is not hard to see why Croatia is becoming a very popular holiday destination.

Cuisine: Croatia’s food is very Mediterranean. Pizza, pasta, meat and fresh fish dishes, seafood are very popular. Croatian beer is of high quality and must be tried some local red wines are exquisite; holiday-makers should also try the local Brandy.

Shopping: Croatia can be slightly more expensive than the United Kingdom but the quality of goods are excellent. There are many department stores and supermarkets for general day to day goods, there are also specialist boutiques, jewellery and souvenir shops in all major cities. Markets are very popular selling fresh fruit and vegetables along with traditional handicraft, embroidery woodcarvings and ceramics.

Getting There: There are a number of flight options with scheduled flights with British Airways, Croatian, and Lufthansa to Low cost carriers Easy Jet, Ryanair and holiday charter operators Thomson, Thomas Cook, Fly Astraus and First Choice.
