Description
The villa, which has air-conditioned bedrooms and beautiful private pool, overlooks a picturesque wooded valley some 700ft above the ancient city of Cahors with its magnificent 12th Century Cathedral. Although the villa is in a rural setting it is only 10 minutes to first class restaurants in the city. Nearby is the 13th Century Chateau Mercues which is perched high on a cliff overlooking the city. A 'must see' is the 14th Century Pont Valentre bridge which straddles the stunning, wide and meandering River Lot. The river encloses Cahors on 3 sides. Pleasure boats ply the river and a little train takes visitors to major places of interest - Cahors is full of ancient buildings. There are a number of wonderful viewing points where every rooftop can be seen as well as the meander of the river. On Wednesday and Saturday mornings there is a market full of colourful stalls selling fruit and veg, spices, jewellery, cheeses, wine, flowers and local crafts. Our villa has completely new bathrooms and kitchen and the lounge has very comfortable cream leather sofas. There is a large flat screen satellite tv and outside there is a big wrought iron table seating 8. There is a fantastic and very comfortable 7'2" x 5'6" Portuguese bed.
Rental Condition
Once the dates have been confirmed by us, the booking is considered to be firm on receipt of a non-returnable deposit. The balance would then be due 8 weeks prior to the rental period. Saturday to Saturday only bookings and access is from 4pm on the first Saturday to 10am on the last Saturday. Smoking is allowed on the terrace but not indoors. One very well behaved pet allowed.

Apart from the magnificient city of Cahors there are many other other areas to visit. Nearby are the perched villages of St. Cirq Lapopie and Rocamadour. The Lot region is famous for wonderful caves such as the Gouffre de Padirac and Grotte de Pech Merle. There are two lakes nearby [25 min and 40 mins] with imported sandy beaches. There you can swim [roped off area for toddlers], canoe, take out pedalos - restaurants at both. The village of Flottes where the villa is situated has vineyards only 300 yards away and is owned by the Alazard family who have been producing wine in Flottes for 4 generations. Ring the bell and buy a bottle or 3 from the vineyard owner - the conifers in our front garden are even featured on the label of the wine bottles. This whole area is also famous for foie gras, truffles, walnuts and walnut liqueur, prunes, melons and goat's cheese [cabecous].
