"Le Bijou de Domme" is an independent self-contained studio unit situated between Sarlat (6km) and Domme (5km) in the beautiful Dordogne valley. The village of Vitrac with good restaurants, canoe hire and golf is a few minutes walk away.
Dating back to the 18th century the charming stone building has recently been renovated and it's bright modern interior provides comfortable accommodation for two people. It is the perfect pied-à-terre from which to explore or simply relax and enjoy the slower pace of life!
Living Area :The main door opens from a small front terrace into the living room. The modern couch converts to a comfortable double bed and there is ample storage space.TV and DVD player. There is a dining table and two chairs. The kitchen area is tastefully furnished and well equipped with all conveniences.
The spacious shower room is fitted to a high standard with hydro-massage shower unit, wash basin and wc. Heated towel rail. Hairdryer.
Grounds :There is a sunny west-facing terrace ( accessed from the living room via the front terrace) with barbeque and garden furniture for dining and relaxing. There is parking for one car.
Facilities :Bed linen and towels are included and changed weekly during stays of 2 or more weeks.
Water and electricity charges included in the price.
Hamper of French produce on arrival in high season.

Rental Condition
A 25% deposit secures the booking. This deposit is refundable in the event of cancellation provided that an alternative letting can be secured for the same period. The balance payment is due 6 weeks before arrival. A security deposit (against breakages/damage to the property) of 50 Euro is payable on arrival and returned on departure if everything is in order.

On your doorstep: Canoes and kayaks are available for hire just 100m from the house. There is a small river-side beach just 200m away where you can enjoy picnicing, sunbathing, paddling and swimming in the clean safe water of the Dordogne. The wonderful 9 hole golfcourse at Rochebois is less than 2 miles away and all equipment can be rented. Walking and cycling can be enjoyed on the many public footpaths and country lanes in the area ( bike hire available locally). For a special occasion why not rent a hot air balloon and view the chateaux and the river valley from above.

The many chateaux in the area, ranging from fairytale ( like Chateau des Milandes, Chateau Losse ) to flambuoyant ( like Hautfort) to medieval fortifications ( like Beynac and Castlenaud) which rival those of the Loire Valley.

The prehistoric caves of the Dordogne and Vezere Valleys. Exceptional sites at Lascaux, known as the "Sistine chapel of prehistory" because of its cave paintings of bulls, horses and stags, and at Le Moustier and Les Eyzies provide evidence of human settlement here some 50,000 years ago!
If you are a connaissuer of fine wines a trip to the vineyards at Bergerac and Cahors is a must. The whole area is known for the richness and quality of its food are there are many excellent restaurants, several with Michelin stars, where the foie gras, truffles, cabecou goats cheese and other delicacies can be enjoyed.
