An interesting older property essentially on 2 floors, the sitting room being on the top floor at road level, with bedrooms at a lower level plus a small roof terrace.
The house sleeps 4. However, we consider it more suitable for a couple, perhaps with one child over the age of 10. We feel that the tiled/stone stairs are not really safe for the under 10's.
This is a chance to visit the Spain of the Spanish. Moreleda de Zafayona has some British residents, but they are few, and you will be meeting local Spanish people who do not speak English. We love our holiday home and visit regularly. The locals are very friendly, and a phrase book is all that is required for a wonderful holiday, with pavement restaurants and cafe bars to visit every day.
This is a simple cottage of the kind that the locals might live in. It is comfortable and well equipped, rather than a plush and luxurious holiday home. This is very much a 'white village' home, with no pool.
A non refundable deposit of £100 is due when making a booking. An option will be held for 7 days until deposit is received. Final balance is due 6 weeks before departure. We can accept payments by cheque or bank transfer in GBP. There is a £25 discount off the 2nd week, and £50 off each subsequent week e.g. 2 weeks low season = £275, 3 weeks £375. Longer periods by negotiation. Please phone or email for further information.
There are wonderful walks in the area from our front door. This is a rural area, the main crops being olive and almond, together with asparagus and small herds of sheep & goats whose bells can sometimes be heard when they invade the village at night!
Within one day's visit are Granada - including the Alhambra and the Albaizyn - Cordoba, Alhama de Granada, Montefrio, Antequera and many other smaller places of interest. It would not be possible to visit all these in one 2 week holiday.
The south coast is about an hour away by car, and many miles of the coast are accessible within 90 minutes.
If you like hill walking, the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas are beautiful and best accessed through the Alpujarras, where lovely coloured pottery and basketwork is on sale. Bright coloured hand woven mats and rugs are for sale in the high Alpujarras, that are approached along small roads of breathtaking beauty. The Sierras and the Alpujarras are about one hour's drive away,
In the higher Alpujarras are lovely villages perched on the hillside which make a lovely day out, with plenty of cafes and interesting local shops along the way.
There are instructions in the house on how to visit the Alhambra and the Albaicyn, and we can give you further information if you wish to book for the Alhambra before leaving the UK.
There is skiing near Granada.
