Description
Cosy, typical Breton cottage, quietly yet conveniently located in the village of St Nicolas du Pelem. Sleeps 4 people. Small front and rear well fenced gardens, cosy patio with barbecue and primrose edged steps leading to small lawned area. There is a large lounge with beamed ceiling, well equipped with satellite television, PS1, Super Nintendo and video and combined kitchen/dining area, again well equipped. The cottage has electric heating in all rooms and log burning fireplace (wood available locally). The shower room and utility room have all necessary amenities, and the bedroom (which is quite spacious) has a double and two single beds, which are separated by a privacy curtain, also space for baby's cot if needed (supplied). Other nearby facilities: swimming, fishing, golfing, leisure centre, horse riding. Towns are: Gouarec, Rostrenen (market town), Quintin (medieval town) and Lac de Guerledan. North/South coast beaches are within easy reach, and the village of St Nicolas du Pelem has an outdoor heated pool (open mid June-mid September) with adult and toddler pools, slides, sunloungers, terrace. The centre of St Nicolas du Pelem is less than five minutes walk from the cottage, with ancient church, chateau, shops, bars and restaurants, play park, tourist information. A large local supermarket and pharmacy are less than 10 minutes drive. Nearby are an Italian restaurant/takeaway, boulangerie, charcuterie and a number of small friendly bars within walking distance, and prepared woodland walks. Quiet yet close to local activity.

Rental can be varied, from a few days, weekly, or monthly, or even longer term. Prices start from : 1st Jan-1st May £130 2nd May-15th July £160 16th July-31st August £210 1st Sept-31st December £130 Weekly rentals also have a security bond (refundable at end of visit) of 40 euros per week.

There is a tourist information office in the village centre. It is approx. 75 mins drive from St Malo/Roscoff and the cottage is extremely easy to find. We have a full travel route available. Local restaurants are very good: La Gwendoline (Italian) takeaway and eat in. La Petit Bouffe (excellent lunchtime 4 course meals). Auberge Kreisker (a little pricier, but not bad. Bar de L'Ouest (English bar) doing a good selection of meals. There is a small French bar just round the corner from the cottage, which is very friendly and comfortable.

Local activities are available. At Lac de Guerledan (10 mins away), there are swimming, kayaking, pedaloes, boat trips on the lake. There is horse riding stables in the vicinity, other larger swimming pools nearby, and fishing in the river in Gouarec. Woodland nearby has prepared pathways for walkers. Rostrenen (15 mins approx) has a weekly market and is a larger town, as is Quintin (which is a medieval town), all well worth a visit, plus other numerous villages and towns.
