El Torcal National Park with its unique natural limestone sculptures and various walking routes, lies above Villanueva and is 10 minutes away by car. Beyond El Torcal the beautiful historic town of Antequera with its many ancient churches, distinctive architecture and prehistoric caves is a 25 minute car journey from Villanueva. El Chorro Gorge, Cordoba and the White Towns, and further afield, Seville, Granada and Gibraltar are day trips by car
