Rent a villa in Spain and attend a Near Death Festival
This free annual event takes place on July 29th and visitors can witness an unusual procession where residents of the town parade through the streets in coffins.
Locals of the town who have had a near death experience, which refers to a range of personal experiences associated with impending death such as seeing a white light or detachment from the body, take part in the procession.
Tourists renting a villa in Spain will be able to see the coffins carried by the person's families and friends – although one or two may end up carrying their own vessels.
This event is held to pay vigil to Santa Marta De Ribarteme or the Saint of Death. The procession follows her effigy and participants attend mass at the shrine devoted to her, where donations are made to help with the upkeep.
