Rent a cottage in Amsterdam this winter and get 'a surprise'

That is because the city is planning a special event on the canals this winter, which could give tourists a pleasant surprise when they visit.
Machteld Ligtvoet, communications manager at the Amsterdam Tourism and Convention Board, stated that she cannot reveal much about the event but it is set to be impressive.
She said: "You can let your hair down - you can be yourself in Amsterdam. We respect and value difference. It is the variety of people which makes Amsterdam the pleasant city it is."
Holidaymakers who do decide to rent a cottage in Amsterdam will find plenty to keep them amused such as the Van Gogh Museum and Hermitage and the unique Museum of Bags and Purses, Ms Ligtvoet added.
According to the Skyscanner Flight Travel Trends August 2010 report, Amsterdam was the most popular destination among Brits for a weekend break.
