Rail travel will always be 'popular'
According to Rail Europe, this mode of transport has made European destinations such as Paris and Lille easily accessible, with many individuals now thinking of trains ahead of other modes of transport.
Rail Europe's media relations manager Amanda Monroe states that as a result, anything with city links will be popular.
"They are easily accessible, great for day trips and, when people want to go further afield, there are so many different destinations they can look at," she said of rail-linked destinations.
"Rail in Europe is already pre-focused on the way people travel and rail is taking the market share on certain routes," she added, saying country borders can now be crossed "so much more easily".
People taking country cottage breaks in France or going to sample holiday rentals around Lille can access their destinations via high-speed trains from London.
