New cartoon museum to open in western France

A new cartoon museum featuring the likes of Asterix, Garfield, Tintin and far eastern favourites such Japanese Anime cartoons will open its doors to visitors in June.
The Cartoon Museum for Angouleme on the banks of the Charente River in Poitou-Charentes will feature a permanent collection of some of the favourite cartoon characters ever invented and will cover 1,300sqm of space.
As well as foreign cartoon characters, famous French cartoonists such as Yslaire, Zep and Moebius will be featured in the new attraction, which is said to be "more than just a celebration of the cartoon".
This is because other features including a library, bookstore and cafe will also be in existence and temporary exhibitions and workshops will be held there too.
Among the things holiday villa guests will find at the attraction is the history of the cartoon from 1831 to the present.
Visitors to Paris can see famous Disney characters at Disneyland Paris.
