Musical festivities across France

The fete is a free event that may appeal to those renting holiday villas in France and is a day allowing expression of all forms of music.
Both amateur and professional musicians are able to partake in shows across the country.
Each year, the fete takes place on the day of the summer solstice, June 21st.
All musicians are asked to perform for free and all concerts are free to attend, the official website states.
Musicians are given the opportunity to perform in locations different to usual settings, such as in public buildings, including museums and train stations.
The first Fete de la Musique took place in 1982 and has since grown to become an international day of musical celebration, which also takes into account a number of regional and cultural differences.
