French holiday villas see resurgence in popularity

Increasing numbers of people are returning to the holiday villas of France from some of the newer destinations such as Hungary and Lithuania.

The country is seeing a "resurgence in popularity" says French Property News, with many people enjoying the opportunity to mix with other Brits in some of the large ex-pat communities that exist in the country.

Brittany, the website suggests, is one place where many are looking for country cottages and villas to invest in.

"Brittany holds exceptional historical and artistic heritage with over 4,000 chateaux, manors and stately built homes, as well as being famous for its apples and cider production," the website said.

It also has the added bonus of being close to the UK, with many ferry links, making it good for those who are looking to cut down on arduous journey times.

Those who are interested in buying holiday villas in the country are likely to get good returns on their property too, and the country currently has a shortage of affordable villas near Paris, something that some may like to consider.
