France still lucrative despite pound plunge

Despite a decline in the value of the pound against the euro, France's appeal as both a holiday destination and property investment location still remains strong, it has emerged.

According to Anthony Peregrine of the Telegraph newspaper, France is still ideal as a country cottage or villa holiday destination due to the fact that many of the best things about the country can be experienced free of charge.

"The landscape - sea, mountains, rivers, forests and lakes - assembles the best of Europe in one country," he writes in an article about visiting the country. "That costs nothing. Nor does the politeness and general decorum."

He goes on to list why visiting France may be worthwhile in 2009, citing events such as the July 25th fete to mark the centenary of Louis Bleriot's first cross-Channel flight as one of the reasons.

The country's culture, food and wine are also listed and so are the history, festivals and abundance of holiday accommodation for individuals, couples and families.

London Luton Airport and the French city of Limoges will from May 3rd be linked by new Ryanair flights.ADNFCR-1687-ID-18993020-ADNFCR
