France most popular ski destination for Brits

According to the report, which is compiled from tour operators' statistics, UK holidaymakers preferred the country's ski slopes which attracted some 37.5 per cent of the market share last season.
And in total defiance to the difficult economic conditions, ski holiday bookings for 2008/09 have overtaken those for the same period last year, a testament to Britains love-affair with skiing.
"For some customers it seems the main ski holiday remains an unmovable fixture in the calendar," said a Crystal spokesperson.
"However, we do expect customers to become more selective, which may have an impact on ski weekends, and also even more value conscious."
Luxury vacation accommodation was also preferred as family and luxury holidays continue to be the strongest sellers, the report said.
According to Luxury Travel Magazine, holidays have become so important, people are less willing to cancel one.
