Cheap holiday options 'still available'

The end of cheap holidays could be coming to an end, due to the higher price of fuel, which is pushing up flight costs, a report claims.

According to the Telegraph, the era of cheap flights is now over and the cost of package holidays is also beginning to increase, thanks in part to the strengthening euro.

Consumers may instead turn to other forms of accommodation, such as holiday villas in France, as a way to keep down costs.

Recently, the Times reported that a holiday home in France could be rented for less money than a shorter trip to a resort in the UK.

Britons may be looking to make a number of cutbacks in order to enjoy a holiday while the credit crunch is ongoing. And choosing to rent a holiday home in France rather than stay in other forms of accommodation could prove to be a cheaper option, the paper suggests.
