Be prepared, holidaymakers warned

According to the NHS Direct, holidaymakers are better off packing a first aid kit rather than relying on finding a pharmacy in case of any minor eventuality while abroad.
In addition, taking out personal insurance before travelling abroad is "essential" as is a handwritten note outlining any existing medical conditions, says Jacqui Jedrzejewski, NHS Direct National Mental Health Childrens Services and Caldicott Lead.
She said: "If you are taking a holiday abroad it is important that you plan ahead and visit your GP surgery or health centre and ask about immunisations that you may need to have prior to leaving."
She cautioned against ingesting any food cooked on the streets or drinks with ice and urged holidaymakers to stick to boiled or bottled water.
Similar advice was issued by the commonwealth office earlier in the month with holidaymakers being urged to take out insurance, even if it was just for a day trip.
